  Equipped with a proprietary large CMOS sensor (22.2 x 14.8mm: APS-C size) with approximately 10.1 effective megapixels (approximately 10.5 total megapixels). Improved light collection efficiency through improved on-chip microlenses, ensuring a standard ISO range of 100-1600 even with a smaller pixel size compared to the "EOS 30D." ISO 3200 can also be selected with ISO expansion, allowing for a wider range of subjects. Furthermore, by implementing thorough random noise reduction and fixed pattern noise removal with the second-generation on-chip noise reduction circuit, low noise is achieved even during high ISO sensitivity and long-exposure photography. Additionally, the automatic ISO setting range in easy shooting zones such as full auto and portrait modes has been expanded by one stop to 100-800 compared to previous models, and automatic ISO setting is now possible in advanced shooting zones such as shutter priority AE and aperture priority AE. In automatic setting, the ISO sensitivity is automatically set to achieve a shutter speed that prevents camera shake according to the brightness, and sensitivity is set according to the shooting mode.
